An amazing year......

I was inspired by Dave Douglas's recent blog about his musical year. In 2007 I was fortunate enough to have some fantastic opportunities to both perform and jam with some inspirational musicians and amazing people like Greg Schochet, Ryan Drickey, Eric Thorin, Matt Flinner, Noam Pikelny, Chris Thile, Bryan Sutton, Chris Eldridge, Chris Pandolfi and the Stringdusters, Adam Aijala and Yonder Mountain String Band, Dominick Leslie, Sam Grisman, Grant Gordy, Jayme Stone, Gabe Witcher, Darol Anger, Edgar Meyer, Casey Driessen, Sarah Jarosz, Mike Marshall, Greg Liszt, Aiofe O'Donovan, KC Groves, David Grier, Wes Corbett, The Clarridges, Cadillac Sky, Jeff and Vida, Taarka, Shannon Whitworth, Charlie Rose, Barrett Smith, Jon Stickley, Pete Kartsounes, Boulder Acoustic Society, Strings of Tao, Ross Martin, Craig Korth, Tony Trischka, Bill Pontarelli and the rest of the swing jam regulars, and Ian Hutchison. This is far from an exhaustive list, and there are countless others I am not thinking of at this early hour.

I am also thankful to have had the opportunity to write and play the music from Ten Thousand Leaves, to attend some fantastic bluegrass festivals around the country, to study music with some inspirational teachers, to be a part of several recordings (including my own), to teach wilderness medicine courses all over, and to acquire a phenomenal Gibson Style 12 banjo, which has been more musically inspiring than I ever could have imagined. I have also had the fortunate privilege of learning about life and love from my daughter Lucy and my incredible and supportive wife Gillian.

Here is to peace in 2008, more new music, and many more new adventures.
