Mixing in Nashville

I am here in Nashville with Matt Flinner mixing the new record Ten Thousand Leaves at Brent Truitt's studio. Stay tuned for some uploaded mixes in the next few days. Also went to a killer pickin' party, with some of Nashville's finest.

Expedition on You Tube!

Gillian Ehrich (my lovely bride) was kind enough to film this at Nissi's in February. We are performing Matt Flinner's brilliant tune "Paint it Shut."

New recording in the can!

We had an amazing week last week at Notably Fine Audio recording the next album with producer Matt Flinner. He coaxed the best out of all of us and fostered an intensely creative environment; one where we could take chances, think outside, and play on the edge. Included in the material is a through-composed string quartet for banjo, violin, guitar, and bass. The new (as yet untitled) record will also have tunes by Eric Thorin, Greg Schochet, a tango by Astor Piazzolla arranged for stringband, and a new tune by Matt Flinner.

Folk Alliance in Memphis!

The Expedition Quartet is off to play at the 2007 Folk Alliance in Memphis. We will play lots of the music for our upcoming recording, as well as some other new-fangled stringband music, and with plenty of special guests and plenty of Dale's. Here is our showcase schedule:

Expedition Quartet on tour

We are embarking on a short tour in February premiering a lot of the music for this upcoming recording project. It will be with my working quartet which is Greg Schochet on guitar and mandolin, Ryan Drickey on fiddle, and Eric Thorin on bass, and myself on the 5-string banjo. Check out the Schedule page for more info on our dates.
