The Expedition Quartet is off to play at the 2007 Folk Alliance in Memphis. We will play lots of the music for our upcoming recording, as well as some other new-fangled stringband music, and with plenty of special guests and plenty of Dale's. Here is our showcase schedule:

We are embarking on a short tour in February premiering a lot of the music for this upcoming recording project. It will be with my working quartet which is Greg Schochet on guitar and mandolin, Ryan Drickey on fiddle, and Eric Thorin on bass, and myself on the 5-string banjo. I am busy writing and arranging music for an upcoming recording with Expedition. I am excited to be working with Matt Flinner as a producer. Matt's now classic record The View From Here has provided endless inspiration, and it is an honor to get the opportunity to have his ears in the studio helping to craft this project.

I am at work writing music for a new record (more to follow on that front). But I am specifially working on a Suite inspired by Richard Avedon's series of photos called In the American West.

I just returned from Vancouver Island in Canada where I recorded an instructional DVD for the company Learnrootsmusic.com. The content includes ideas for improvisation, learning the banjo neck, and incorporating more modern sounding techniques into bluegrass tunes.
